Free Suicide First Aid Training in Gwent

The Ted Senior Foundation is proud to fund Suicide First Aid Training for individuals living and working in Gwent.

Newport Mind is taking the lead in coordinating this initiative to equip our community with the skills needed to identify and intervene when someone is experiencing suicidal thoughts.

There are three fully funded courses available, suitable for anyone who works in the Gwent area. No previous experience is necessary.


Suicide First Aid: Lite

  • Duration: 3 hours (2 X 90 minute sessions)

  • Focus: Identify and understand signs of suicidal thoughts, and learn effective ways to guide individuals towards support.



Suicide First Aid: Understanding Suicide Intervention

  • Duration: 6 hours (4 X 90 minute sessions)

  • Focus: In-depth training providing knowledge and skills to competently intervene, assisting individuals in staying safe and alive.



Face2Face Suicide First Aid Children & Young People

  • Duration: 6 hours (4 X 90 minute sessions)

  • Focus: Teaching the theory and practise of suicide intervention skills that can be applied in any educative setting with transferable skills to personal settings.
